Landing pages convert insanely faster than optin forms. Whether you want to get more sales, drive more traffic to a page, get more email subscribers, or get more downloads, they work better than anything else.
It takes time to build a landing page that’s optimized for more conversion. Moreover the page builders like Elementor, Beaver, Divi do not compliment a beginner. Surely they are easy to use but it takes time to get used to them.
In this post, you are going to learn how you can create a stunning conversion optimized landing page right from your WordPress dashboard in three easy steps and that too with a free WordPress plugin.
Let’s get right into it.
3 Steps to Create a Free Landing Page Faster Than Ever
1. Install The Landing Page Cat WordPress Plugin
Login to your WordPress dashboard and install this plugin. It is called landing page cat created by FatCat apps. You can simply download it from here.
It’s a free WordPress plugin which I use to create custom landing pages without leaving my WordPress dashboard. Moreover, you don’t have to code anything with this plugin. It has 3 different layouts to choose from which includes an email optin and call to action button as well.
Once you have installed the plugin, The landing page cat icon will appear on your WordPress dashboard sidebar. Go to your landing page section and click on add new and move to the next step.
2. Setup, Layout, and Configuration
Give your landing page a title in the title section. This is for internal use and users don’t see it. I’ve named my new page as “New Landing Page”.
In the setup section, you have to choose the behavior of your new page. This includes whether you want it to replace your current homepage or publish it on a specific URL. I recommend publishing the landing pages on a specific URL because that helps in better handling.
You can specify the slug on which you want your landing page to be found. This page is a subscribe us page and I want it to be found on”BforBloggers.com/subscribe” so I will enter the slug subscribe here.
Then, you have to select what call to action you want. If you want to build an email list, select E-mail optin. If you want to send users to a specific page or product, select redirect users “Button” call to action.
Click on the save button and move to the layout tab section.
Step 3. Customization
In the layout section, you can select the background image of your landing page, its opacity, the text on your email optin form, button colors and so on.
I’ve demonstrated quite clearly what you have to do in the image above. The first section which is the background section shows you available image by landing page cat. You can choose from these or upload your own image by clicking on the add button.
In the headline section, you need to enter the headline you want your visitors to see when they visit your landing age. The headline should be compelling. This is what your visitors will see at the very first moment.
Then in the description section, you need to enter the text you want to show above the email field. Describe here what your visitors will get by joining your email list. An ethical bribe or a content upgrade will do the work.
Click on the save button now.
Now, move to the configuration tab. Here you have to configure the landing page cat plugin to sync the new email subscribers with your email list.
Currently, it supports all leading email services including MailChimp, Aweber, and ConvertKit. To begin with, I handle my email list with MailChimp so all I need to do is enter my MailChimp API key here, and, you have to do the same. You can find your API in the extras section of your MailChimp account.
Click on the save button. Your landing page is ready. Click on save and preview to have a look at it. It’s live on your site and new users will be able to signup for your email list from this page easily.
You can use this page to get more email subscribers by adding a link to it in the form of a call to action on your homepage. Here’s how you do it.
Install the Elementor page builder WordPress plugin. It’s a drag and drop page builder and I use it to create pages here on BforBloggers. Along with Elementor, you will need to install the Essential Add-ons plugin as well, Just to make it very very easy.
In the pages section, go to the new pages and click on the edit with Elementor button. In the Widget tab, click on the EA Call to Action element. In a second you have a ready to go call to action with pre-built button and text. Simply edit the text. Then click on the button to edit it. All you need to do here is enter the link of your newly created landing page and save it.
Enjoy with your free landing page as it helped you build your email list. If you don’t have an email marketing service, signup for a free MailChimp account and automate your email marketing campaigns with it.
Also, If you are a lifestyle or fashion niche bloggers, it’s obvious you want to get more people to know about you and your creative work. In such cases, I highly recommend you to get started with drag and drop page builders like Elementor, Brizy, and Beaver. There are many add-ons available for Elementor and Beaver builder in WordPress repo for free. You can use any of them to add additional functionality like pop-up boxes, parallax background, accordion and more in your landing pages.
